Daily useage has proven to be a joy. My wife feels totally safe and loves its easy driving ability. We took delivery in april 'oo and have 60k miles. Gas is poor but I feel respectable for the size. 13 ave. Have gotten as much as 18 and as little as 5! We tow a 27' t.trailer that weighs 6300 loaded,well below the rating of 8000#. Question to any who tow with this vehicle... I feel when towing this truck cannot get out of its own way.

Struggles at 55-60 mph seems safer at 70 mph. Excessive engine noise and the tranny cannot make up its mind where it wants to be! Also Truck must not be running when you hook up rig or the auto ride ?? will get a false reading regarding "level" and will over compensate any sway control system. I have a sway problem even with the dual cam sway system.6 ltr. is awsome when we are not towing but weak when we are. wonder if we spec'd the wrong rear end (4.10) This truck was built to order for us in Mexico and except for a new tranny at 20k we have had relatively no mechanical problems that I would consider excessive. Fit and Finish has been a big problem and we have had our Sub. in at least 30 times for repair.

Our rational is no price break so if we even think there is a problem it goes in. Hint: check your Auto ins policy for rental coverage. We had 17k of body damage 2 weeks after we got it due to hail. Cov. allowed 30$ daily on rental which is a GEO or FOCUS. Not even close when you are driving an SUV. We upped it to 80$ daily for maybe 20$ more per year.Also, I highly urge you to write in to your sales CONTRACT to have a SIMILAR vehicle as a loaner when your in for repairs!!! We do love this truck regardless of repairs and highly reccomend it ONLY if you need the towing and passenger capacity.We both agree thatwe would never have bought one except fopr those two items

It currently has 125,000 miles and the only thing I have replaced so far is the control module for the four wheel drive ($550 with labor). I have traveled all over the US with my TB, gone through about any type of weather from -25 F to 135 F, and it worked out great. The Four Wheel Drive works great, have gone through deep snow, to playing in the mud, and it was a lot of fun.

The TB is comfortable even for a 21 hour road trip, although the seats could use more side bolstering, they are flat and took some getting used to. The engine is great, decent gas mileage and it can tow my boat with ease. The only thing I dont like is the amount of rock chips you get on the bottom of the back doors. I drive on gravel everyday, and its down to about the primer now.
With the amount of abuse, and everything I have put this vehicle through, it is still an amazing vehicle. Even after having all four tires off the ground over a big "bump". There are a few rattles, but that is to be expected after three years of me driving the vehicle.

As my first Chevy product after being satisied with my Toyota trucks, I was unsure of what to expect--turns out that I am pleased. The V8 engine is excellent, and in some ways more advanced than Toyota's engine--and provides better fuel economy.

The pushrod V8 is proven & refined with less moving parts than others which is probably why it gets better gas mileage. It also has a chain instead of a timing belt--no big future bill for replacement. The automatic transmission is superb, in fact MUCH better than the transmission in my '02 Honda. It always does the right thing, shifts smoothly, and conserves fuel when I don't push it. If I need more power, I can tap the "tow button" or push on the gas--it shifts smoothly and responsively: seems to know what I want it to do. The truck is very quiet, smooth, and comfortable. No rattles or squeaks--all controls work as expected. The chassis is massive and strong.

Unlike some of the Toyotas I've owned, the tailgate and bed are VERY strong. While the interior is relatively spartan (this is a truck, afterall) the interior lags the competition in some aspects. This may or may not be an issue to you. The seat upholstery, fabric, headliner, carpeting are good; I'd opt for a nicer dash with less hard plastic and nicer door panels and hardware. Instrumentation and control layout are very good. Many nice "electronic" features are included. While the ride is generally smooth, the suspension could be improved for better control on rougher roads. Possibly a good set of gas shocks would do the trick. Handling, with little roll, is better than I expected for a large truck, but I'd still opt for quicker, more nimble & responsive steering.

One big plus is the availability of accessories for this popular truck--and most are priced much lower than what I found for my Toyotas. A look under the hood reveals a clean layout that should promote easy maintenance. Brakes work well but I think I'd like (may not really need) larger front rotors. I really like the big, strong chrome bumpers instead of plastic panels now on some trucks. Generally, a lot of truck for the money.

    • ]]>     I love my Venture. We sprung for the Warner Brothers, which has dual power slide doors, leather and a DVD entertainment system. We've had no mechanical problems at all. We replaced the brakes recently, but at 4 1/2 years and 60,000, that's typical. The only problems we've had with it were a bad power window motor and the glove compartment latch just broke. It broke in the new car where we were considering trading it in on something new. I wonder if its trying to tell us something. With less than a year to pay it off, its a great van and it'll be hard to part with. I've NEVER kept a car until it was paid off.

Yes, I do. Be sure to get the Euro version, the base Lumina isn't enough car. With the right tires and good struts and a tight front end, this large car can ride smooth yet handles very well (for a big car, that is) I like the smooth reliable 3.1 V6, 3.4 has more power and is very smooth, but more maintenance required. After owning one and loving its size, I'll never go back to small, noisy Japanese cars again.
